Not much to report around here...

Now I remember why we usually go away in November... it's been raining a lot! October was relatively dry, but boy oh boy is November making up for that! At least we haven't had any flooding here like they've had in Northern England. The weather really hasn't helped business; it's been very quiet this month, but that's nothing new as November and January are always the quietest months.

Katia is starting extra dance lessons to practice for a tap exam early next year. We missed today's class though - arrived when it was finishing because I got her group wrong. The thing is, I didn't really know which group she is in; she has been taking dance classes since she was 3 and she just turned 9. Turns out she will be taking her Primary Tap Exam and I am a little annoyed about this since I feel she should have taken this exam before now. I Googled it and found that the age group for this exam is often 5-7 years. Perhaps it's because she's one of the oldest in her year, or perhaps it's because they don't do exams every year (if so, why not?) but at any rate I just think that after 5 years of lessons she should have learned more than she has if she is only taking her first tap exam now. I have often thought over the years that the classes are a bit of a joke but that as long as she is enjoying it, then what's the harm - other than the fact that I am approximately £125 poorer every year because of it and that doesn't include the cost of ballet and tap shoes, tights, leotard and costume rental when there are shows OR the cost of the extra lessons for the exam (another £25). Now that I think of it, I realise I'm in the wrong business!!
