I'm baaaack!

Hello again!  You've probably been wondering where I've been (or maybe not!).  Truth is, we're all just bobbing along here... everything's fine, nothing too noteworthy going on.  The two most exciting things coming up are:

1.) Our redecoration plans for the restaurant are moving swiftly along; we're planning to begin on October 30th and will be closed for roughly 10 days *hopefully*.  The carpenter was here a few days ago to discuss the plans for the new bar, and we have already placed a few orders for some of the new furniture.  I've been spending WAY too much time browsing eBay and Overstock.com for wall art and still not decided on anything yet!  The new roman blinds arrived a few days ago and despite only having the computer screen to see the fabric, I'm fairly impressed and am crossing fingers they go up without a hitch.

2.) We are going to Canada for Christmas!  Yay!!!  It will be only our 2nd time in 17 years - how pathetic is that??  The first time was when Christian was 2 years old (Katia was not yet a twinkle); he'll be 14 in December!  We are leaving here on December 20th and will be in Canada until January 10th.  Those 3 weeks will fly by, I am sure!

We have discussed "presents" with the kids and though I am sure I could arrange to have gifts delivered to my mom's address, the thought packing twice as much stuff to fly back home is a bit daunting - not to mention the luggage restrictions!  So, the choice is either to "go small" (very, very small) or maybe we could keep a few gifts here to either open before we go or when we get back.  That is yet to be decided, but something to think about.

We also have a mini break coming up.  It's half-term break here from October 24th and one of our employees has taken that week off (very bad timing if you ask me, but there's not a lot I can do about it).  Half-term is usually pretty busy for us, but with one employee off (and another on maternity leave), I haven't got enough staff to cover shifts for the whole week, so we're going to close on the Monday & Tuesday and go to Bristol & Cardiff for a few days.  Not sure what we'll do there - but I'm sure we'll find something!

Anyway, that's really about all I have to say at the moment!  Very, very boring...sorry!

  1. I'm jealous about your Chistmas trip! And yes, it stinks that baggage allowances have been reduced, making gifts tricky. Didn't stop my hubby from buying A a HUGE Tonka dump truck the year we went back for Christmas! Duh! You'll have a blast though.

Don't forget to take lots of before and after photos in the restaurant! :-)
