Potter Wars
Last weekend we went to see Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2. We all enjoyed it very much but on the way home from the cinema, Christian had a lot of questions that he felt weren't answered fully. We suggested he read the books and I said I'd get them if they (Katia also expressed some interest) promised to read them. So.... on Wednesday the box set arrived and both were keen to get started so we had a coin toss to decide who gets to start first. Christian won, which Katia was not very happy about, but accepted it. However, whenever Christian wasn't reading it, Katia was and so by Saturday morning, she had finished the first book! Christian finished on Sunday morning and they're now in a bit of a "race" even though we keep telling them "it's not a race!!" but that is falling on deaf ears... In any event, the more time spent reading, the less time spent watching tv or on the computer, so it's all good!
Katia has started going to the local leisure centre on Tuesdays & Fridays for 3 hours of multi-activities. She absolutely loves it and it's free! She's also going on Wednesdays and taking kayaking lessons which she did last summer too. She finds the summer holidays fairly boring so it's a good way to fill her days!
The restaurant is very busy now but in addition to the usual work, we are in the midst of planning a redesign of the restaurant for this winter. The plan is finally starting to all make sense now but we're going to need to get some quotes. We're planning to put in a new ceiling, air conditioning, new bar, bench seating and a partition wall.... though not necessarily in that order! It's a big expense but we haven't done much to the "old" side of the restaurant in probably 12 years and there's a few congestion issues I'd really like to sort out. Hopefully the new design will make the working environment much better.
The kids are both continuing to grow like weeds.... Christian is just a few millimetres off 5'6" and Katia is equally close to being 5'2"! I reckon Christian will be at least as tall as me by this time next year. Yikes! Hope I'll still be able to stare him down!
