New videos and an update

So... what have we been up to since April? I guess the biggest thing was that my mom visited here for 3 weeks in May. We had a really nice visit though the weather unfortunately did not behave. It wasn't all that wet, but it was c-c-c-cold!! We managed to get away for a few days when she was here; we spent one night in the Lake District and another in York.

Yesterday was the school Sports Day. Luckily (very luckily!) it was scheduled for the best day of the week and we had a gloriously sunny day. Today is wet again. :(

Here are a few of Katia's races.

On Monday, Katia competed in the Urdd Sports Day, which is a multi-school competition for kids who are members of the Urdd - which is a Welsh youth group. Katia competed in long jump and relay. She placed in joint first place for long jump and their relay team came in 2nd place. She'll compete in Bangor next week for the next stage in long jump - and IF she places in either 1st or 2nd place then she'll compete in Colwyn Bay for the regional finals. Last year she made it to Colwyn Bay but the competition might be tougher this year!

Christian has been taking his final exams this week. He is quietly confident with the 6 he's taken so far, but he's still got 3 left. I'm not quite sure how much of his final mark that the exam will count for, but he is doing really well in all his subjects so far, so hopefully his final grade will be good too.

The restaurant is getting busier by the week, which is good. We had hoped to be able to open every night as Martin had started training a young chef to fill in for him, but unfortunately it didn't work out. :( I've been also having my share of staffing stress and had hoped to perhaps visit Edmonton again this summer, but it just doesn't look like it's going to happen. We are now thinking about sending the kids off for a week of "summer camp" with Katia's being dance-themed and Christian's being video-game programming themed but believe it or not, Christian isn't too sure! He's very much a creature of habit and though he mixes with other kids well, he likes the comfort of him own home just a little too much. It might take some work to convince him to go!
