Getting excited and nearly ready!

Our holiday is fast approaching; we'll be leaving here on Friday evening for Liverpool and flying Saturday morning - can't wait! I think we're all ready for a holiday now. This is possibly the longest we've gone without a holiday; we haven't been away for more than one night since Christmas. It seems perfect (and usual!) timing for me to come down with a cold - yep, it started yesterday. Martin had it last week, so maybe if I'm lucky it will disappear as quickly as his did.

Other than planning and getting ready for the trip, we've been keeping pretty busy with other stuff. The restaurant has still been pretty busy given the time of year and it's hard not to think about the money we'll be missing out on while on holiday as it's bound to be a good week, but with plans to take another trip early next year, I feel that we must at least try to take advantage of the school breaks so that the kids don't miss more days than absolutely necessary.

Katia has been keeping extremely busy this term. She's got after school activities nearly every day (French, netball, sports club, guitar and ballet) plus she's started going to dance & drama classes in a nearby town every Saturday from 11 am until 2 pm. She absolutely loves the classes (disco, ballet & musical theatre) and because she didn't know even one person before she started, she has made a lot of new friends. Last week there was an article in the local paper on the dance school.

Katia is top right in pink.

Unfortunately, Christian has not been keeping as busy with extracurricular activities.... but he is at least still taking trumpet lessons. We had a bit of a drama with the trumpet the week before last when he left it on the bus on the way to school! We imagined the worst and feared we wouldn't get it back (he takes a regular public bus to school) but fortunately got it back the next day which was a huge relief for us all!
